Tan’s Ordination

Deacon Minh-Tan (“Tan”) Hoang will become the latest Augustinian priest to be ordained on Friday, 4th June 2010 at St Augustine’s College Sydney. For the past nine months, Tan has worked as a deacon at Villanova College and at the local Augustinian Parish in Coorparoo. He finds himself lucky to be given this experience to interact with students and the elderly from the college and parish respectively. From the time he first started with the Augustinians, he feels that experiences like this have changed the way he looks at life and himself, “It’s not just about my happiness, but about the happiness and the well being of the people I come to meet.”

With the ordination in just over two weeks, Tan feels the response and excitement from the people that look forward to being there with him when he will be ordained. He says, “There are people coming down from Brisbane which I was surprised to hear because this year was my first year to be with them. It made me think, what did I give to them that I got this response back?”

We look forward to welcome the latest edition to the Augustinian priesthood in early June and all are welcome to be a part of the special occasion. Information of the weekend celebration can be seen below.
