From the 9th – 15th August 2010, 12 Australian delegates comprising of 4 young people from St Clair Parish, 6 young staff from our colleges of Villanova and St Augustine’s and 2 Augustinian priests including Tony Banks, participated in the Augustinian Youth Encounter (AYE) in the global city of London.

 AYE is a week-long event held every 2-3 years, gathering young people from Augustinian communities around the world to celebrate the diversity of cultures and the unity being one body in Christ through the teachings and writings of St Augustine. Continue reading

Deacon Minh-Tan (“Tan”) Hoang will become the latest Augustinian priest to be ordained on Friday, 4th June 2010 at St Augustine’s College Sydney. For the past nine months, Tan has worked as a deacon at Villanova College and at the local Augustinian Parish in Coorparoo. He finds himself lucky to be given this experience to interact with students and the elderly from the college and parish respectively. From the time he first started with the Augustinians, he feels that experiences like this have changed the way he looks at life and himself, “It’s not just about my happiness, but about the happiness and the well being of the people I come to meet.”

This Palm Sunday, 28th March 2010, the Parramatta Diocese will hold a Youth Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral with the newly, appointed bishop, Bishop Anthony Fisher OP. The mass hopes to attract all young people in the Diocese as well as out in which the mass will be broadcasted over the catholic social networking site, XT3 (www.xt3.com). The youth group from the Augustinian parish of St Clair known as BASIC GIFT (Brothers and Sisters In Christ, Growing In Faith Together) have been asked to support by being the music ministry during the mass.
